New cameras with impressively large lenses have already been spotted on Saina street and the BAKAD ring road. What are these devices? We asked Sergek Group.

“The equipment installed is a specialised traffic camera. It has a higher resolution and a polarising filter that counters sun glare. All this makes it possible to obtain images at an even higher resolution, including at night,” Sergek explained to the Kolesa.kz editorial team.

To date 30 hardware and software complexes fitted with the new cameras have been installed in Almaty, and 300 such complexes are planned for the city in total.

Sergek Group also noted that the optics do not record any new traffic violations, although they are capable of it. For now the electronics keep their previous functionality. Among other things, the cameras watch whether drivers give way to pedestrians at crossings and whether they have fastened their seat belts. The same equipment was previously tested in Astana, Aktau and Oskemen.
